Andy Duncan, Chief Executive Officer – Travelopia
Andy was appointed as CEO of Travelopia in March 2018. A transformational CEO who has delivered significant growth, market leadership and strategic change in a variety of industries and sectors, including both purely commercial, and commercially orientated public purpose companies. Prior CEO roles include Channel 4, H R Owen, and Camelot, as well as Board Director experience at the BBC and Unilever, and being the first ever Chair for Freeview. Over 33 years working in ‘World Class’ organisations, including significant international experience.
In addition significant Non-Executive experience with both Commercial and Public purpose organisations, including current role as President of the Advertising Association since 2014, and being Chair of the Media Trust from 2006 – 2014, as well as being a NED for HMV Group, and many other Trustee roles including Children in Need.
Married for over 30 years with 2 daughters. Passionate about all sports, film and music.
Matt Hill, Chief Operating Officer – Travelopia
Matt joined Travelopia in 2018, brought in to strengthen our leadership and commercial capability. A marketer at heart, Matt has a passion for understanding our customers’ needs and making sure that we deliver against them.
He brings 25 years’ experience from the consumer goods industry, originally as a marketer leading global brands and innovation for Unilever, then a decade in board level general management roles, most recently as CEO Europe for Heinz.
Matt has travelled extensively, visiting more than 30 countries. He is also a keen runner and triathlete, and spends his weekends with family and friends in the great outdoors.
Favourite travel moment: Sunrise at Adams Peak in Sri Lanka, and snorkelling with nurse sharks in Belize.
Christine Franks, M&A Director – Travelopia
Christine qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Canada and transferred with PwC from Toronto to London in 1998. Following a short spell in the Assurance practice, she joined PwC’s Corporate Finance team, advising on primarily mid-market Consumer transactions.
Christine moved ‘in-house’ to join the Group M&A team at First Choice in 2005, where she worked on numerous acquisitions and disposals, up to and following the merger in 2007 with TUI, to form TUI Travel PLC. In 2009, Christine moved to the Specialist & Activity Sector of TUI Travel PLC in a commercial finance and M&A role, before becoming Business Development Director in 2010. As Business Development Director Christine was responsible for coordinating the Sector’s annual strategic planning process, driving any M&A activity undertaken by the Sector and leading any ad-hoc strategic projects. In 2013, Christine returned to a Group M&A role, when she was promoted to Head of M&A for TUI Travel PLC. Christine continued in a Group M&A role for TUI Group until 2017.
As Travelopia’s M&A Director, Christine is responsible for leading all corporate activity undertaken by Travelopia, including acquisitions, disposals or joint ventures.
Christine lives in Weybridge with her husband and two children and spends her weekends watching her children play sport.
Dominic Binefa, Chief Financial Officer – Travelopia
Dominic joined Travelopia in 2010, when it was part of TUI Travel PLC. Prior to his appointment as CFO in October 2016 he held various Group Finance roles and was Finance Director for the Adventure Travel Division for a year. Before Travelopia, Dom worked at PwC, where he gained his ACA qualification and worked for their Assurance practice and also he also worked for Iberia Airlines in Madrid.
Dom naturally has a passion for travel and has back-packed extensively around numerous countries with his wife and is keen on kayaking and white-water-rafting. His travel highlight was volunteering on a game reserve in South Africa for ten weeks, which cantered around conducting big-cat and elephant research. Other than travel, Dom enjoys photography and at home always has a DIY or restoration project on the go. He’s also often seen on stage, acting and singing with a local theatre group. Currently however, he spends more time singing to his two young daughters than anyone else.
Favourite travel moment: Tracking cheetah and rhino on foot whilst volunteering on a game reserve in South Africa.
Sally Cowdry, Chief Customer Officer – Travelopia and Managing Director – Tailormade
Sally Cowdry joined Travelopia in June 2018 into a dual role as Managing Director of Tailormade and Chief Customer Officer for the Travelopia group. Sally has over 10 years Executive board level experience with a career spanning several sectors, having started in travel at Stena Line and Heathrow Express, before moving to O2 and then Camelot. These roles have included P&L responsibility, digital transformation and brand leadership and Sally has built a track record of building high performance teams and growing businesses through differentiated propositions and strong execution.
Sally also has experience of Non-Executive roles; she was on the board of The Restaurant Group 2014-2017 and is currently on the board of The Marketing Academy, a voluntary organisation whose purpose is to build leadership capability in talented marketers in the UK, US and Australia.
Married with two boys, Sally enjoys the outdoors – running, road cycling, mountain biking – as well as the theatre and cinema.
Favourite travel moment: Whitewater rafting and whale watching in California, swimming with elephants in Thailand and mantras in Maldives, Segwaying in Barcelona – so many amazing moments, can’t choose a favourite!
Cheryl Brown, Managing Director – Le Boat
Cheryl’s background sits within the travel industry, starting as a travel agent at the age of 16. Cheryl quickly progressed through the ranks, being promoted to Retail Trading Director in 2001 and then onto Managing Director in 2004 for the First Choice Retail Group. She joined Sunsail in 2007 as Managing Director before taking up the position of COO for TUI Marine (The Moorings, Sunsail, Footloose & Le Boat) in 2009 when she relocated to Florida. After a fantastic 4 years in the sunshine, Cheryl relocated back to the UK to take up the exciting position of Managing Director of Le Boat which she loves with a passion.
Cheryl has a beautiful daughter and enjoys traveling.
Favourite travel moment: Cruising through the Venetian Lagoon, Venice on one of Le Boat’s amazing cruisers and mooring up with St Mark’s Square in sight; “It almost took my breath away!”
Shelley Cline, President – TCS World Travel
Shelley Cline, with TCS World Travel since 1993, is responsible for steering the company’s significant growth while maintaining its position as the world leader in private jet expeditions. During her tenure at TCS she has worked in tour operations and product development, overseen the company’s rebranding and helped established key partnerships. She is also currently managing the launch of the company’s new custom-built aircraft, cementing TCS World Travel’s leading position in the luxury travel market. She has been a part of the Executive Leadership Team at Travelopia since 2018.
Shelley lives in Seattle with her husband and two children. She enjoys hiking the forests of the Pacific Northwest, bringing her dog Poppy to work, traveling with her family and cheering on her son’s football team.
Favourite travel moment: Trekking through the forest of Rwanda to encounter a family of mountain gorillas during a TCS jet expedition.
Simon Cross, President – The Moorings and Sunsail
Simon started his career in travel in 1992 joining First Choice Holidays where he worked across all of the commercial functions, specialising in product, yield management and capacity planning. Following the merger with Thomson Holidays, he successfully led the integration of the commercial functions of the two businesses. In 2008 he joined Crystal Ski Holidays, the UKs biggest ski tour operator, as Yield & Planning Director, becoming Managing Director of the business in 2010. He subsequently took on a portfolio general management position as President of TUI Marine and Ski where he led Crystal, the Yachts business and Le Boat for three years. In 2016 Simon became President of Travelopia Yachts managing Sunsail, The Moorings, Leopard Catamarans and Footloose.
Simon lives in West Sussex with his wife and twin daughters. He is an avid follower of many sports, with a particular interest in cricket, rugby union and Aston Villa FC.
Favourite travel moment: Hiking through Monument Valley at sunrise.
Parik Laxminarayan, CEO & Co-Founder – Enchanting Travels
With aspirations of bringing alive the joy of personalised travel and creating a truly inspiring place to work, Parik founded Enchanting Travels in 2004 with his business partner, Alex. Before embarking on the Enchanting Travels journey, Parik lived and travelled extensively through Asia and Europe as an international junior tennis player, earned his undergraduate finance degree at The Ohio State University, USA, worked as a business consultant at a boutique economic consulting firm in Washington, D.C and then completed his MBA at INSEAD, in France and Singapore.
Following Travelopia’s acquisition of Enchanting Travels in 2019, Parik is focussed on driving exponential growth of Enchanting Travels and helping the other Travelopia brands expand their footprint in the USA and Germany.
With his wife and two daughters, Parik loves to travel to remote parts of the world and is passionate about sports (tennis, golf, surfing and skiing in particular), hiking, wildlife, and food. He is based in our Denver, CO office.
Favourite travel moment: Being woken up at 3am by a pride of lions walking through Olakira camp in Tanzania.
Sam Seward, Managing Director – Adventure Travel
Sam started in travel as an entrepreneur and business owner, establishing his own sports, education and event travel brands in 2000. In 2010 his business was acquired by TUI Travel plc, at which time Sam began one of a series of different portfolio roles which included sports travel, festival travel, skiing, educational travel and gap year breaks. From 2014 to 2018 Sam lead TUI’s sports travel and events businesses. Since 2018 Sam has been Managing Director at Exodus Travels and now leads Travelopia’s global Adventure portfolio.
As a keen rugby fan and former player, Sam has toured the globe watching and playing the sport. Since middle-age and the arrival of his 2 sons enforced retirement from rugby; cooking, running and cycling are Sam’s latest passions.
Italy, Patagonia and Nepal’s Annapurna are among his favourite destinations for all of the above.
Andrew White, President – Quark Expeditions
Andrew joined Quark Expeditions as Vice-President of Sales in 2012, before becoming President in 2014, a role which he says has given him an incredible opportunity to apply his professional acumen with his passion for expedition travel. Andrew came to the team with an impressive 25-plus-year track record in sales and marketing at such companies as Molson Coors Canada (in North America and the United Kingdom), Bond Brand Loyalty, The Hive Strategic Marketing, Arctic Kingdom Polar Expeditions and co-owner of a boutique luxury Tour Operator (Horizon & Co.). Andrew has also garnered respect for his skill as a certified executive coach, especially in the areas of personal branding and leadership consulting. Taking the helm of Quark Expeditions, the leader in polar travel, has been a natural fit for Andrew, an experienced expedition leader who has guided canoe trips throughout the Canadian Arctic. He’s also a former owner of Canada’s oldest outdoor adventure company.
Andrew has two teenage kids who inspire him with their boundless energy and their spontaneous “yes” to any challenge that arises in their path.
Favourite travel moment: Paddling the Keele River in the Canadian Arctic with 5 great friends and learning to Scuba Dive with my daughter in Raja Ampat (Indonesia).
